BREAKING: Kano court overturns appointment of new emirs by Ganduje



A Kano State High Court Wednesday proclaimed the arrangement and the establishment of four new emirs by the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as invalid and void.

Equity Nasiru Saminu gave the decision following a suit by the offended party, Hon. Sule Gwarzo, against the Governor and the state government, for part the emirate.

It requested an arrival to the present state of affairs pending the knowing about the suit against the arrangement of the emirs.

On Tuesday, kingmakers in the Kano emirate documented a comparable case.

In the suit with number K/197/2019 documented on Tuesday at a State High Court, Ganduje, the State House of Assembly, Attorney-General of the state and five others were recorded as the respondents.

The kingmakers — Yusuf Nabahani (Madakin Kano), Abdullahi Sarki Ibrahim (Makaman Kano), Bello Abubakar (Sarkin Dawaki man Tuta) and Mukhtar Adnan (Sarikin Ban Kano) — were recorded as first, second, third and fourth offended parties individually.

They demanded that Ganduje’s consent to the bill separating the emirate, was done in dishonesty and the activity was a contamination of hundreds of years old convention.

“The respondents, in indicating to revise the Emirs (Appointment and Deposition) Law, 1984 have contaminated hundreds of years old and exceptionally adored customs and legacy of the general population of Kano and have removed the Plaintiffs different conventional titles without giving a consultation to the Plaintiffs and their tribes or having respects to genealogical history by quickly establishing the Kano State Emirs law, 2019.

“The litigants despoiled the tribal history and every realized law associated with or relating to Kano Emirate’s traditions and custom by (a) setting up Bichi Emirate containing nine nearby governments including Dawakin Tofa and Dambatta, the genealogical homes of the first and fourth offended parties. The main offended parties have her been under any specialist of Bichi region.

“(b) Establishing Gaya Emirate containing eight neighborhood governments including Wudil and Gabasawa, the tribal homes of the second and third offended parties,” the suit read.

The kingmakers are additionally looking for a presentation that Ganduje comes up short on the power under the current, “emirs laws of Kano state, 1991 to designate emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, Karaye or some other individual and that the arrangements made are unlawful, illicit, invalid and void.”

Day by day POST reports that the state currently has five emirates: Kano, Rano, Gaya, Karaye, and Bichi. All Emirs would have equivalent powers and are to be on a similar five star status as Sanusi.

The new heads incorporate Aminu Ado Bayero, a child recently emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, who is the pioneer emir of the newly settled Bichi Emirate.

The Emir of Gaya is Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya; the Emir of Rano is Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila while the Emir of Karaye is Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Abukakar ll.

The way things are, Kano emirate headed by Sanusi has ten nearby governments: Kano Municipal, Tarauni, Dala, Nassarawa, Fagge, Gwale, Kumbotso, Ungogo, Dawakin Kudu and Minjibir.

Rano emirate will control Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, Takai, Sumaila, Kura, Doguwa, Tudun Wada, Kiru, Bebeji.

Gaya emirate has Gaya, Ajingi, Albasu, Wudil, Garko, Warawa, Gezawa, Gabasawa LGAs.

Karaye, Rogo, Gwarzo, Kabo Rimin Gado, Madobi, Garun Malam LGAs will be under the Karaye emirate.

Bichi emirate will control Bichi, Bagwai, Shanon, Tsanyawa, Kunchi, Makoda, Danbatta, Dawakin Tofa, Tofa neighborhood governments.
