Senate rejects bill to establish Maritime University in Kogi

The Senate, on Thursday, dismissed a bill proposing the foundation of the Maritime University of Nigeria, Lokoja in Kogi.

The dismissal pursued the introduction of the bill by the support, Sen. Isaac Alfa (PDP-Kogi).

The bill, which was recorded for second perusing, was dismissed by the administrators through voice vote.

While making their commitments, the officials had instructed the support concerning the bill to pull back it following a few reasons including the requirement for more work to be finished.

Alfa, be that as it may, would not pull back the bill, saying he had completed a ton of work on it.

He encouraged the officials not to join geological area and different notions to the bill.

Sen Barau Jibrin (Kano North) noticed that there was another government college in Lokoja while recommending that the proposed oceanic college ought to be sited in another riverine network of a similar state.

Sen. Olusola Adeyeye (APC-Osun), said there was no requirement for the college, including that colleges the nation over were ineffectively financed.

“You make colleges and get under subsidizing. I will keep on restricting each new college until old ones are supported.

“Give the colleges access the sea territories make oceanic resources. We ought not to set out on 419 for our youngsters until old ones are financed,” Adeyeye said.

Sen. Biodun Olujimi(PDP-Ekiti), said the backer of the bill ought to pull back it for more work.

In his comments, the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, put it to a voice vote and the nays had it.
