The Senate approves the inclusion of the NFIU in the Board of Directors of Proceeds of Crime Recovery Management
The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday affirmed the incorporation of the National Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) to serve on the leading administering body of the Proceed of Crimes Recovery and Management Agency (PCR).
In a supported movement by the Senate head, Ahmed Lawan, he said the NFIU, which is an enemy of defilement element, would assume an essential job in the organization.
The Proceed of Crimes Recovery and Management Agency bill was passed into law as of late and anticipating harmonization by the gathering board of trustees.
In the passed bill, NFIU was not on the overseeing board in spite of its essential job as an enemy of debasement outfit, a circumstance that incited the Senate to rethink its prior stand.
Lawan saw that “after necessary examination of the charge, some critical issues which require new authoritative activity on proviso five occasioned by the foundation of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) which was not thought about in the Proceed of Crimes Recovery and Management Agency bill was taken note.
“Mindful that the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit as an enemy of defilement element will assume an essential job in the task of the Proceed of Crimes Recovery and Management Agency. ”
Representative Lawan further contended that the incorporation would be following commonly prescribed procedures, henceforth, Nigeria can’t be a particular case.
The incorporation of the condition was continued as proposed at the Committee of the entire, by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
