University degrees no longer meal ticket, Buhari tells graduates
President Muhammadu Buhari has reminded Nigerian alumni that acquiring a college degree is never again a feast ticket.
Buhari expressed this on Friday at the thirteenth Convocation for the conferment of higher degrees, postgraduate certificates and privileged degrees of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
He told the alumni that college degrees and certificates would prefer to help them to think about difficulties of life.
While saying that his organization would address youth joblessness and underemployment, Buhari approached the adolescents to grasp the open doors the Federal Government had set up to moderate the joblessness circumstance.
He stated, “You are advised that college degrees don’t usher you into an El Dorado. It instead furnishes you with the ability to think about the regularly changing difficulties of the life of which youth joblessness is an annoying part.
” The Federal Government will stay resolute in handling the difficulties of youth joblessness and underemployment through a grid of activities.”
He recorded such activities to incorporate N-Power, the Bank of Industry Youth Entrepreneurship Support Program and the Central Bank of Nigeria and Bank of Agriculture Support Schemes.
Buhari, whose address was perused by the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Anwuka, lauded the administration of the college for the infrastructural advancements on the grounds.
In his location, the Vice-Chancellor of the college, Prof Joseph Ahaneku, said the thirteenth conference of the foundation was for the 2017/2018 scholarly year.
No less than 6,500 were deliberated with first degrees; 182 got postgraduate recognitions while 763 were met with Master’s degrees and 269 got Ph.D. degrees.
